How to send an email to your whole church

Write one message, pick who receives it, and send — without copying addresses into Gmail.

Step-by-step guideAbout 10 minutes

Before you begin

  • People imported or added with email addresses
  • Communications module enabled

Step-by-step

  1. Open Communications

Click Communications in the left sidebar.

  2. Start a new message

    Click Compose or New Email.

  3. Choose recipients

Pick a list (example: All Subscribers), a group, or search for individual people. Only contacts with an email address will receive the message.

  4. Write subject and body

Add a clear subject line (example: This Sunday — March 9). Write your message in the editor. Keep paragraphs short for phone readers.

  5. Preview

Use Preview to see how the email looks. Check links and spelling.

  6. Send or schedule

Click Send now, or pick a date/time to schedule (example: Saturday 9 AM before Sunday).

Tips

  • Send a test to yourself first: choose only your name as recipient.
  • Every email includes an unsubscribe link automatically — required by law.
  • Reuse a past email: open Sent, duplicate a similar message, edit, and send again.

Watch out

  • Avoid pasting hundreds of addresses into BCC in Gmail — use ChurchRaise so unsubscribes stay in sync.
  • Large images can land your email in spam. One header image is enough.

If something goes wrong

Someone did not receive the email

Check their profile for a valid email and that they have not unsubscribed. Ask them to check spam.

Open rate shows zero

Opens are estimated; some privacy settings block tracking. Delivery is still successful if status is Sent.
